    UUA Networking Event: Are You a Lay Minister? Come Find Out! 
    Friday, June 22 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
    Room 2211 in the Kansas City Convention Center
    Lay ministry is happening in the UU world! Join both lay and clergy members of the UU Society for Community Ministries to learn more about it. UUSCM is a UU affiliate organization which offers recognition of the committed service of UU leaders as lay ministry. Learn more about how your work in UU settings and in the community could be strengthened by identifying as a UU lay minister. UUSCM also offers resources and support for lay ministers seeking a formal relationship with their congregations as commissioned lay ministers.


    Opportunities for Promotion!

    Current members of UUSCM may offer a stack of business cards, brochures or other free promotional material at the UUSCM booth in the exhibit hall. Just stop by the booth with your materials. Only one card, flyer or brochure per person, please!

    If you are a UUSCM member and you're on the GA program as a panelist or presenter, please let us know what you're presenting, and the day, time and room. We'll put something up at the booth about it. (If you can, contact us with this information before GA.)

    UUSCM will hold its Annual Meeting by online conference this year on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 4 pm Pacific, 5 pm Mountain, 6 pm Central, 7 pm Eastern Time.

    The Meeting will be held using Zoom, and Director Jeremy Taylor will be the webmaster. The meeting will be recorded to aid in the taking of minutes, so if you wish to participate you are also giving permission to be recorded.

    Zoom is video conferencing software. It's free. If you register to attend the meeting you will receive a link in an email. At the time of the meeting click on the link and you will be asked to download and install a small program on your computer. Then you will join in the conference.

    To participate by computer you need to have a computer with speakers, internet connection and a web camera. If you do not have a computer you can participate by telephone. The email with the link will also have a call-in number.

    In January 2015 the UUA and UUMA created a new two-year inter-faith program focused on building skills for entrepreneurial ministry. The program is a partnership with business schools around the country. One of the program themes is based on design thinking principles.
