Detailed Ministry Description
Rev. Dr. Michelle Walsh has been recognized as an Affiliate Community Minister with United First Parish Church (UFPC) in Quincy, MA and with The First Unitarian Society in Newton, MA. She has had a passionate commitment to urban ministry over the past two decades, 17+ years of which were spent developing and directing a weekend youth ministry, Stand High/Stand United, at the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry (www.uuum.org). Most recently Rev. Walsh has developed a relationship with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in Dorchester (www.ldbpeaceinstitute.org), an organization that provides crisis services for families of homicide victims, as well as public policy advocacy on state and national levels. Rev. Dr. Walsh is also a licensed independent clinical social worker with nearly two decades of work experience as a clinician, supervisor, and mental health clinic director.

Rev. Dr. Walsh has also completed her PhD in practical theology, concentrating in pastoral theology, at Boston University (http://sthweb.bu.edu/cpt/). Her dissertation project is titled: "Prophetic Pastoral Care in the Aftermath of Trauma: Forging a Constructive Practical Theology of Lived Religion From Organized Trauma Response Ministries." She maintains a private holistic and wellness, spiritual and pastoral counseling, and life coaching practice using expressive arts, including sandplay, called Sacred Play Explorations, as well as a private urban consulting practice called Tuckerman Creative Ministries for Justice with her husband Rev. Clyde Grubbs. The offices of both organization are located in Salem, MA. She is also an adjunct faculty member of Boston University’s School of Social Work where she teaches "Ethics," "Racial Justice and Cultural Oppressions," "Spirituality and Social Work," and "Introduction to Human Behavior."
